Legacy, LLC is a full service boutique agency. We work primarily with authors who are established personalities and those with strong promotional platforms.

We specialize in nonfiction about sports and Christian topics. We consider nonfiction in other categories, as well as fiction. There are no reading fees.

Nonfiction queries should include proposals. Each proposal should include the following:

  • An introductory paragraph that is the "hook" for why a publisher should want this book. Consider this the elevator speech that the editor would read and immediately be drawn in to read more.
  • A 1-2 page synopsis of the book. This more thoroughly gives an overview of the book than the intro paragraph but still brief.
  • A Description of the book:
    • Number of words
    • When the manuscript will be complete
    • Table of contents
  • Market analysis:
    • What is the market for this book?
    • Who is the intended reader/audience for the book?
    • Describe the potential of that audience/marketplace (any data you can find that will quantify the potential audience and their buying power).
    • How will this book compare to other books in the market place? How did those other books sell? What will make this book unique and "better?" Why would someone buy your book instead of others already on the market?
  • A bio about the author
  • Your platform: What you bring to the table in terms of speaking, blog, social media etc with concrete numbers that indicate how you will be able to help promote and sell the book. Publishers want low risk and are looking for books by authors with large and well established platforms so this part is KEY! While they will consider books by authors without large platforms, they do so rarely so the more we can offer here, the greater the chance of success. Please include the following:
    • Social media outlets you use and number of followers
    • Whether you blog and any information on your followers/readership
    • Whether you speak often and number of audience members over the course of a year
    • Outlets/networks you have access to who would be interested in the book
    • Potential endorsements of your book
    • Potential foreword (high visibility person)
  • Chapter summaries: a chapter outline that has a 3-4 sentence paragraph for each chapter describing what the chapter will cover. This helps editors understand how well the book holds together.
  • Sample chapters (2-3)

Fiction queries should include a complete manuscript, and a proposal including the elements outlined above for nonfiction queries.
